As expected, Samsung is demonstrating its new technologies in the FPD screens Chiba (Japan), as its new screens SuperAMOLED , as the flexible AMOLED are present in prototype form at the event.
The odd thing is that Samsung has decided to use your Samsung Galaxy Tab to establish two of the technologies, and thus make them closer to the end user.As I anticipated, the new screen resolution will be higher with 1200 x 600 pixels, and when the panel enters production will replace the current used by the Galaxy Tab, which will be discontinued.
Ultrathin 10.1-inch screen
The second prototype was based on a 10.1-inch Tab Galaxy, this time with LCD technology, but with the peculiarity of having a thickness of only 1.8 mm. This screen is content with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, the same as if the current Tab Galaxy 7 inches. It has a 1,000:1 contrast and 250cd/m2 brightness.
To get the thick, Samsung has developed a panel of only 0.44mm and 28 grams (without the feedback unit). An equivalent conventional screen Samsung walks by the 130 grams, and 1.26 mm thick.
The Korean company reports that in a couple of years this LCD technology will be in the market, and also the prototype that looks like Tab Galaxy also had a notebook with the new screen.
The 10.1-inch widescreen design serves at least to get an idea of the future will look like a tablet of these dimensions, as reported in the presentation of the original model, is also in development.
Flexible AMOLED display
Leaving aside the Galaxy Tab, Samsung Mobile Display has also shown what was the main attraction of the stand, 4.5-inch screens flexible AMOLED technology. The panels get a curve with a radius of only 10mm, with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. As I explained in previous articles, new plastics come to shape the surface layer of the assembly.
The contrast goes up to 100,000:1, as is customary in AMOLED technology, and 250cd/m2 brightness stays. Technology can display up to 16.7 million colors.
It is not the first time that Samsung launched a development of these features, in the past presented a 6.5-inch screen with OLED technology and 480 x 272 pixel resolution.
